OpenAI's GPT models are powerful AI models known for their versatility and strong performance across various tasks. Using the OpenAI API gives you higher usage limits and access to the latest models.
Here's how you can use OpenAI API in 16x Prompt to get better performance and higher usage limits.
- Sign up or log in to OpenAI Platform with your OpenAI account
- Add some credits to your account at Billing to use OpenAI API
- Go to API Keys and click on "Create new secret key" to generate a new API key
- Copy the API key (make sure to save it as it won't be shown again)
- Open 16x Prompt and click on the settings icon in the top right corner
- Enter the API key into the "OpenAI API Key" field
Once you have setup the OpenAI API key, you can start using OpenAI models in 16x Prompt by following these steps:
- Go to 16x Prompt and click on the API model settings button in the bottom right corner
- Go to OpenAI • Claude • DeepSeek • Gemini tab
- Click on the OpenAI model you want to use to select it (e.g., GPT-5)
- Click "Close" button to close the model settings dialog
